Listening, storytelling and matchmaking – NEW DATE for climate change events in Bolzano/Bozen

Dear colleagues,

the Coronavirus (COVID 19) currently determines the media coverage in Europe. Unfortunately, the north of Italy seems to be particularly affected.

After a careful consideration, ALPACA, the Alpine Partnership for Local Climate Action, and the Alpine Climate Board of the Alpine Convention decided to postpone their planned climate related events this week until summer. The Workshop for Matchmaking and the Conference on Climate Change Communication in the Alps are now scheduled for Tuesday, 30 June and Wednesday, 1 July 2020 back to back at Schloss Maretsch in Bolzano/Bozen.

It was a difficult decision for us to delay an event with a high number of registrations and an interesting, diverse program. However, it was especially important to us to make the responsible decision and to avoid a possible spread of the virus among the Alpine community.

We hope that under these new circumstances you are still willing to pool forces towards climate neutral and climate resilient Alps! Our motivation and the program did not change: “Let’s accelerate the transition towards climate neutral and resilient Alps” – following this motto on 30 June, we will take further steps towards the implementation of the Alpine Climate Target System 2050. Representatives of all sectors of activity in the Alps and from local to cross-border level are invited to embark on pathways for action. We will present the Alpine Climate Board’s ideas of implementation pathways for ten sectors of the Alpine Climate Target System 2050, refine their timeframe together and especially seek commitment from the stakeholders to answer the key question of: who implements?

“Listening, storytelling and matchmaking”, these are the elements you can expect on 30 June/1 July. Whereas the Alpine Climate Board concentrates on finding multipliers, ALPACA wants to use the conference to strengthen the transregional exchange of knowledge and experience about climate change communication.

The participation in both events is free of charge. Please register here until Friday, 19 June 2020.

We are looking forward to fruitful discussions in a summerly environment and wishing you all the best with the hope for the coming weeks to stay healthy.

Please apologize multiple mailings and forward the program to interested colleagues and potential implementers.
