The Trento-Filmfestival was founded in 1952 by CAI, the Italian Alpine Club and the Trento Commune. It is the oldest film festival in the world specialised in mountains and exploration subjects. Apart from the annual film competition, throughout the year the Festival organises events such as film evenings, conferences and debates on subjects connected with the mountains. Since 1987 it has promoted and organises MONTAGNALIBRI the International Review of Mountain Publications.
